The place to go in the southern Berkshire county for all your active outdoor needs. They feature snowshoes, nordic skis, technical outerwear, footwear, and accessories. The Arcadian Shop is located adjacent to Kennedy Park, which provides hundreds of acres of public trails for nordic skiing, snowshoeing or hiking. Be sure to call ahead for rental availability if you need equipment.

Berkshire Outfitters is your source for outdoor adventure in northern Berkshire County and the Mount Greylock area. They specialize in nordic touring (A/T) gear and snowboarding equipment. They also featue traditional cross country skis and snowshoes, for sale or rent. Whether you want to venture to Mount Greylock and uphill the Thunderbolt trail, explore Glen Meadow at your own pace, or hang a little closer to civilization and hike the paved Ashwillticook Rail Trail (only 300 yards from their parking lot) Berkshire Outfitters has you covered! Hilltop Orchards / Furnace Brook Winery

Hilltop Orchards is a 200-acre historic property, just 17 miles south of Jiminy. You would expect apples, cold pressed cider, homemade cider donuts, pies and preserves. Check! What you might not expect is the Furnace Brook Winery on premise. Purchase a DIY wine sample and savor it by the fireplace or pick up some their award-winning wines and ciders to take home with you.

In addition, Hilltop Orchards opens their beautiful property for hiking year-round, and cross country skiing & snowshoeing in the winter. Snowshoes are available to rent and trail passes are available for $10 a day. Come and be inspired by the vast open space and fantastic views from the hilltop.

Ioka Valley Farm

Ioka Valley Farm is a diversified, family owned and operated, working farm dedicated to providing high quality, locally grown products, as well as enjoyment for all ages. Join them in February and March as they celebrate maple syrup season with their famous Pancake Breakfasts! Homemade pancakes served with REAL maple syrup, made right on the farm. They'll even show you how and where they make it. Maple syrup, maple products and hormone-free beef are available for sale, year 'round. Please call ahead for hours or to make an appointment.

Pineridge Cross Country Ski Area

Nestled in the foothills of the Taconic and Berkshire Mountains, just 18 miles north of Jiminy, Pineridge offers hundreds of acres of unspoiled wilderness for your outdoor adventures. They offer 35 Km of fabulous woodland trails expertly groomed and track set. Ski or snowshoe along the picturesque Poestenkill Creek or climb up to an elevation of 1746 feet and enjoy spectacular views of the Taconic Range in New York State and Mount Greylock in Massachusetts.

Cross country ski and snowshoe rentals are available if you don't have your own. Please call ahead to reserve equipment or to schedule a lesson.

Sheep Hill

Sheep Hill is just 12 miles north of Jiminy Peak via routes 43 & 7, and serves as headquarters for the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation (WRLF), whose mission is to preserve the rural character of Williamstown. 

Sledding, snowshoeing, and back country skiing are just a few of the winter activities possible at Sheep Hill. The 19th century farmhouse serves as headquarters for the WRLF and other out buildings offer interpretive exhibits to enhance your experience. The grounds are open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week. There are two trails through the Sheep Hill meadows, the Rosenburg Ramble, which is a perimeter trail offering spectacular views, and the shorter Meadow Walk for all to enjoy. The WRLF is active in maintaining several trails in the Williamstown area on property it owns or helps manage.
