Snowmaking

Our ski resort prides itself in our snow making capability. All of the guns spread out throughout our ski areas are “Sledgehammers” by SnowGun Technologies that are patented and created in collaboration between Brian Fairbank, the Chairman of the Fairbank Group, and Penntti Nikkanen, a former Skunkworks Engineer. Since installation, our Sledgehammers have drastically reduced our ski resort’s energy consumption while creating a 100% increase in our snow output. With this state-of-the-art technology, our ski areas now offer 96% snowmaking coverage with an average of 3 feet of snow.

FAQs

What is the average wait time for lifts?

Generally, guests only have to wait a few minutes in line before they can hit the ski slopes. However, wait times may be longer during popular ski times such as Saturdays and holidays.

When does our ski season typically start and end?

We begin snowmaking as soon as the temperatures permit after November 1. Most years we aim to be open by mid-November. We typically start by operating only on weekends and open our ski areas during weekdays as the season progresses. The season generally lasts into the beginning of April.

What is Parking Like At Jiminy Peak?

We offer onsite parking as well as off property parking where we utilize enclosed shuttles to bring people onto property. Our Massachusetts ski resort also offers valet parking on weekends and holidays.

How far in advance should you book your trip, lodging, and lift tickets?

Generally speaking, guests can book their accommodations and purchase lift tickets close to and sometimes the same day of their ski trip. However, there are exceptions for high demand periods like Christmas Week, MLK weekend, and President’s Week. During these time periods, we encourage people to reserve farther in advance as we do sell out and our KIdsRule program, in particular, fills very quickly.

Do we offer any packages?

The Day Package includes a lesson, lift ticket and rentals! This package is for sale in the Rental Shop, located in the Thatcher building or at the SnowSports desk, located in the lower level of JJ’s Lodge.

Are storage lockers available?

Our ski area has lockers available for seasonal and single day rentals, located on the lower level of our lodges – JJ’s Lodge and Crane Lodge.

What is our internet and cell coverage like?

We offer WiFi throughout the base of our ski resort and have cell coverage for all major carriers.

Does Jiminy Peak Employ a Ski Patrol?

We have full time ski patrol on site with a patrol building located at the base of the mountain as well as the summit.

What are the rules and regulations?

The safety of our guests is our top priority. For a full list of our ski resort’s rules and regulations including uphill skiing, marijuana usage, and drone operation, please refer to our mountain policies page.
