Snowsports Levels
Skiing
Red – 1st Time Ski or Snowboard Program
- Never Skied Before
- This is your first time on skis
Yellow
- You have tried it a couple times and want to improve
- You can walk or glide on skis
- You can make a gliding wedge and stop
- You have trouble controlling your speed
- You can make a turn in one direction
- You have ridden a lift
Green
- You can climb uphill
- You can control your speed while turning
- You can link wedge (snowplow) turns together
- You are starting to match your skis in the turn
- You ski on Green Circle trails
- You can ride a chair lift
Blue
- You are starting to match your skis consistently
- You start and finish your turns with parallel skis
- You have started to use or are using poles
- You can control your speed on Green Circles and some Blue Square Trails
Black – Private Lessons Only
- You ski parallel all the time
- You can control your speed on Blue Square and some Black Diamond trails
Snowboarding
Red – 1st Time Ski or Snowboard Program
- Never Snowboarded Before
- This is your first time on a snowboard
Yellow
- You have tried it a couple times and want to improve
- You are able to do a heel/toe slide and stop
- You can make a turn in one direction
- You are starting to link turns on gentle terrain
- You have ridden a lift
Green
- You are starting to link turns consistently
- You can control your speed while turning
- You ride on Green Circle trails
- You can ride a chairlift
Blue
- You are linking turns consistently
- You are starting to ride switch (backwards)
- You are starting to do jumps
- You can control your speed on Green Circles and some Blue Square Trails
Black – Private Lessons Only
- You are carving turns
- You can link turns riding switch
- You can do small jumps
- You can control your speed on Blue Square and some Black Diamond trails
