KidsRule FAQ

Where is KidsRule Located?

KidsRule is located in the Burbank Children's Center in the lower Courtyard of Village Center.

Are rentals included?

No, rentals are not included in KidsRule tuition fees. Rentals are available at the KidsRule Equipment Rental area located in the Burbank Children's Center.

Can I remove my child early?

KidsRule is a full day program, if you have a special situation and want to remove your child early the time that would be the least disruptive to the program would be during the lunch period. You must check in at the KidsRule  desk at the beginning of the day and make arrangements with a member of the staff.

Does my child need a lift ticket?

The KidsRule tuition includes a full day / full mountain lift ticket.

Do I need a reservation?

Yes, you do need a reservation. We limit our enrollment to the amount of available ski pros that are scheduled to work on any given day.

What happens if I pick up my child late?

The program ends at 3:15. Please make every effort to pick-up your child on time. Progress review cards are distributed to students at the end of each day and this is the best time to have an interview with the students coach. If you are unable to pick up your child they will be transferred to the nursery at your expense.

Do you have a ½ day program?

No, we offer full-day programs only.

Is snowboarding available?

Absolutely. When you make your reservation please specify if you are enrolling for snowboard lessons.

Can my children ski together?

Probably not, our experience has found that most children benefit from training without the advice of a sibling in their class.

Can my children meet at lunch and eat together?

Students eat lunch together with their coach in one group. On most class days all of our students eat lunch in the Burbank Children's Center. Holidays when we are at full capacity we utilize an additional lunchroom located across the Courtyard in the Welcome Center.

My child is on medication

Children on medication must be brought to the attention of our registration staff. In addition to noting special medications a student is taking on their lunch menu request form, we would prefer to have a member of our registration staff know any medications your children are on as well. We are unable to administer any medications to students.

Can my child attend if he is in diapers or pull-ups?

Unfortunately not. We are obligated to many students during the day and have found it unfair to the class as a group when a member of the class needs to detain everyone for a special personal hygiene change. We do have a fully staffed nursery located in the Burbank Children's Center for youngsters who are not fully trained.

What qualifications do the instructors have?

All instructors are involved in a rigorous on the mountain training program. Many instructors are members of PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors Association) and have above average to expert skiing abilities.

What is the student to instructor ratio?

Our goal is 6 to one. On very busy peak season days we try to add a junior pro (Student teacher) in with each group over 12 students.

What happens if my child doesn't want to ski?

We have various proven time tested methods to convince your child to give it a try. We have found it is generally best if the parent leaves the KidsRule area as soon as possible for those children who are still undergoing separation anxiety. Should your student absolutely not want to ski we will have you paged, and keep the student occupied in the Burbank Center. (Some young children may have to be transferred to the nursery if they are unable to maintain a sociable posture.)

Where do I leave their equipment?

All students equipment should be on their person when they arrive at the Sugar House. Don't forget a helmet. Although they are not mandatory, many skiers and riders are wearing them for their warmth and protection! There are cubbies located in the Burbank Children's Center for shoes, etc.

How do I get notified in case of an emergency?

Our staff will page you or call the cell phone # you leave with us, in the event of an emergency. Additionally, we post marking boards at the entrance to all the chair lifts and will have a message "Will John Doe’s Parents please report to KidsRule or Burbank Children's Center"

How do I check in?

Check in is easy, bring your e-mail confirmation the morning that you are scheduled to attend. Your child will be issued an arm band and a ticket which fits inside the arm band. The ticket will include your child's name, lunch selection, and a security code.

How do I pick up my child?

At the end of the day we hope you have an opportunity to interview the student's coach or coaches. They will ask for your security code, to match up with the code on your child's ticket, before releasing the child. They will also give you a written report of your student's progress with any recommendations they may have for additional advancement.

Where are the Restrooms?

Restrooms are located in all the public buildings at the resort.

Can my children use their personal 2 way radios?

While we encourage communication between parents and their students at the resort we have found it to be distracting when students converse with siblings, parents or friends during instruction and while riding the lift during classes. We encourage you to wait until school is over to use your two-way radios.

Is the playroom part of KidsRule?

No, The play room is a separate department located in the Burbank Children's Center.
