Mountain Users Responsibility Code

There are elements of risk in skiing and snowboarding that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce.

This is a partial list. Be safety conscious. Officially endorsed by: The National Ski Areas Association, National Ski Patrol and the Professional Ski Instructors of America.

Any violation of this code as determined by Jiminy Peak management can result in the loss of lift ticket without warning and without refund.

Be advised that all poles and/or flags, signage, and covers on equipment or objects or other forms of marking devices are used by Jiminy to inform you of the presence or location of a potential hazard. These markers are no guarantee of your safety and will not protect you from injury. It is part of your responsibility under the Mountain Users Responsibility Code to avoid all obstacles or hazards, including those that are so marked.

Jiminy Peak recommends that use of a helmet and wrist guards while skiing and riding, both in lessons and on your own. Helmets are available for rental in the Rental Shop for $10 and wrist guards rentals are free of charge.

Why Consider A Helmet

Helmets can provide added protection for children and adults when skiing or riding by potentially reducing the severity of injury from some types of falls. However, skiing in control and at safe speeds is the most important aspect of skiing or riding safely. Wearing a helmet does not justify increasing your speed! Above all else, mountain safety depends on all skiers and boarders adhering to the Mountain Users Responsibility Code.

Please consider a helmet for yourself and your family. Jiminy Peak's Mountain Sports Shop sells helmets and provides information and proper fitting for the many types of helmets they sell. Jiminy patrons receive a 10% discount on the purchase of a helmet by showing that day's Jiminy Peak Lift Ticket. In addition, the Jiminy Peak Rental Shop offers helmets for rent for children and adults.

Information on helmets and safety can be found online at The facts are just as beneficial for adults as they are for kids.

Jiminy Peak recommends that you lock and secure your personal belongings when not in use. Locks are available for sale in Just Jiminy and Potter Brothers, and a limited number of coin locks are available slope-side at Crane Lodge.
