What's New For 17/18

AIRLINE-LIKE VARIABLE PRICING, CHARGING STATIONS, AND IMPROVED SNOWMAKING AND LIGHTING HIGHLIGHT 2017-18 SEASON AT BROMLEY, CRANMORE AND JIMINY PEAK

HANCOCK, Mass. – It won’t be long now. The Ski Magazine Gear Guide is out; the Denver and Boston Ski Shows are less than two months away; and snowguns at three popular New England resorts are ready to start blasting anytime after November 1, signifying the start of the 2017-18 ski and snowboard season.

The three Fairbank Group resorts – Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in western Massachusetts, Cranmore Mountain Resort in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, and Bromley Mountain in southern Vermont – have made a number of enhancements in preparation for the coming winter months.

The resorts are embracing airline-like variable (also known as “dynamic”) pricing to help skiers and riders save; improving their snowmaking; expanding après ski activities; and introducing electric car charging stations.

Plan Ahead and Save

All three resorts will offer variable pricing this season. Similar to airline pricing, the further in advance skiers and riders purchase a lift ticket, the more they save versus the walk-up day rate. Conditions apply, including no refunds, but for visitors able to plan their trips in advance, consulting the resort’s online pricing chart and locking in a ticket price ahead of time, can help stretch their skiing and riding dollars.

More Juice at Jiminy

As part of Jiminy Peak’s commitment to power its resort with 100% renewable energy – thanks to a wind turbine, solar array, and co-generation plant located on-site in Hancock, Mass. – Tesla-specific and ClipperCreek universal EV charging stations will be installed this year, allowing visitors to leave their gas guzzlers at home and take their EV cars to the mountains.

A new four million gallon reservoir will add capacity and energy efficiency to the resort’s snowmaking system. Also new is a Pisten Bully 600E+ groomer, bringing energy-saving diesel-electric hybrid power to snowgrooming for the first time at the resort.

Jiminy Peak has also completed installation of LED lights on 21 trails, providing better vision during night skiing with less energy consumption. The comparison with the older lights is, well, night and day – similar to the difference in brightness between a manila envelope and a brilliant white piece of copy paper.
